![]() ![]() ![]() You accepted the explanation and kept your original booking against out advice. We explained that the travel time shown on Google Maps is not accurate, and your trip would be closer to 4 hours. Upon receiving your booking, we reached out to you to inform you of the travel time between Panajachel and Guatemala City's Airport, and recommended you take an earlier shuttle. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have requested some sort of refund but no one from Trip Advisor or the corresponding travel company has responded to me. I was minutes away from attempting to book a new shuttle and/or missing my flight. This is not what I paid for and not what was expected. I was also made to switch vans at a gas station along the way. I was told in a private conversation with the travel agency that there would be no stops along the way - and we stopped twice. I was in a foreign country without cell service, so I now have a charge for all of the time I was sitting on hold. I had to turn on my cellular data call the help line, after waiting 25 minutes for the bus, where I was put on hold for over 15 minutes. Days later and I have still not had a response within the app nor to any of my inquiries or reviews. No one responded to my messages on the TripAdvisor app, no one at the tour company we were waiting at had my name or information, and I had a flight that took off in several hours. My shuttle was 45 minutes late to pick me up. If they want to buy any local memorabilia, let them do it on their own time. Completely ruined the rest of the tour.Īdvice for the tour operator: remove the upselling part of the tour. ![]() Going back to the local vendor story, she proceeded to not only overcharge me 300 quetzales for 4 knickknacks but made me feel terrible for not having enough and then told me I should go to the ATM to get more cash. I didn't need to pay additional expenses or made feel less than because I didn't wanna partake in it. Listen, I love to support the local community but I had already paid my ticket. I came into this tour with the intention of learning about the town not to be upsold. However-As much I appreciated being introduced to a local vendor at the park via my tour guide, I didn't appreciate how I was made to feel by the vendor because I only had 150 Quetzales with me at the time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was warm. I truly enjoyed the historical background offered and learning more about this gorgeous town. ![]()
